1. Delegate a space to permanently be a donation bin. In our home we have a large maroon Rubbermaid bin in the garage. Everyone in the family knows that it’s the donation bin, and I take the contents to our local donation center once it becomes full.
2. Take ONE item from your home that you no longer love, haven’t used in the past six months or have a duplicate of and put it in your designated donation bin.
3. You’re going to begin doing a daily routine that includes doing the dishes, cleaning the sink, sweeping the kitchen, and doing a load of laundry. Don’t get overwhelmed, this will become habit overtime.
Here’s what the daily routine looks like in our home: before bed, I sweep the kitchen, start the dishwasher, clean my sink (more details in the next post) and put a load of laundry in the washer. My washer has a delay start option, so I set the laundry to begin washing one hour before I wake up. In the morning while my coffee is brewing, I unload the dishwasher and “flip” the laundry, which is just my word for moving the laundry from the washer to the dryer.
You’re off to a great start! Comment or message me with questions!! I’m cheering for you as you start!
For advanced refresh: turn all your hangers in your closet around. When you wear an item of clothing and hang it back up, put the hanger on the correct way. In 6 months, you’ll know which clothes you haven’t worn and can donate or sell them.
